ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN REACHES NEW HEIGHTS AT 2700 NORTH OCEAN
The clean, contemporary, curvilinear architecture of the
towers adheres to the credo of “form follows function,” according to
award-winning architect Robert M. Swedroe, the architect of record for 2700
North Ocean and founding partner of Robert M. Swedroe Architect & Planners
in Miami Beach.
“The expansive oceanfront site provided an excellent
opportunity for the architectural shape of the buildings,” he noted. The choice
of white for the exterior of the soaring towers allows the architecture to take
command,” he continued.
Both towers were also strategically positioned on angles on
the 8.8-acre site to further enhance panoramas of ocean, Intracoastal Waterway,
and the island of Palm Beach directly to the south.
Glass balconies reinforce the transparency implemented in
the clean, curved architecture. “They draw the visually expanded views into the
interior,” Swedroe added.
On the forefront of originality, the architectural firm
introduced Florida’s first major direct-entry elevator building in 1988.
Furthermore, the firm set another revolutionary precedent by designing
buildings with through-view units. It has perfected these by designing
multi-residential buildings for some of the leading developers in North and
South America, as well as Asia and Europe.
Both of these innovations are found within the condominium
residences at 2700 North Ocean.
